The American Airpower Museum (AAM) has announced two new dates for its popular WWII Douglas C-47 Scenic Flight Experience: Saturday, August 16 and Saturday, August 30, 2025. If you missed the chance to fly aboard the legendary B-29 Doc over Memorial Day Weekend, this is your opportunity to step back in time on AAMโs own Douglas C-47 Skytrain Second Chanceโthe same type of aircraft that dropped U.S. Airborne troops into Normandy on D-Day in June 1944. Forget cruising at 35,000 feet in a modern jetโthis flight keeps you at just 1,000 feet, cruising at 150 mph for an unmatched birdโs-eye view of Long Islandโs shoreline, landmarks, and scenic vistas. For years, Second Chance has been a star attraction at the Jones Beach Air Show, and now you can experience the thrill yourself.

Flight Details
Each Scenic Flight Experience lasts approximately 45 minutes, including about 20 minutes in the air. After boarding at Republic Airport, youโll hear the rumble of the C-47โs powerful twin radial engines before taking off toward Long Islandโs North or South Shoreโroute depending on wind conditions.
