CAF Airbase Georgia, Peachtree City, GA, is currently hosting Georgia Journeys, a traveling World War II exhibit developed by Kennesaw State University, with the display scheduled to remain on view through March 6, 2026. The exhibit is open to visitors during the museum’s regular public hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The exhibition draws from oral histories collected through the Museum of History and Holocaust Education’s Legacy Series project. While the full program follows the stories of 12 individuals connected to Georgia, the traveling version highlights eight biographies. It also touches on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s long association with Georgia, including his time in Warm Springs between 1924 and 1945.
Georgia Journeys focuses on the wartime experiences of veterans, homefront workers, and Holocaust survivors who later made Georgia their home. Among those featured are Jane Tucker, who worked in the Savannah shipyards as a Rosie the Riveter; Guy Gunter, a glider pilot who took part in the D-Day invasion; Dr. Hillard Pouncy, who served as a Tuskegee Airman; and Norbert Friedman, who survived imprisonment in 11 concentration camps before rebuilding his life in the United States.
