Have you ever wanted to learn how to work on warbirds? The Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett, Washington will be running a short course titled Warbirds 101 which will allow participants to learn and work hands-on with their rare and historic WWII aircraft and artifacts. Beginning in January 2015 with Warbird Maintenance, attendees will learn directly from FHC’s experienced maintenance staff about what it takes to keep warbirds flying. This will include information on the airframe and power plant systems as well as hands-on activities and demonstrations with the warbirds.

Be sure to include your full name and any questions you may have about the program in your message. Space is limited of course, so registration will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.
When: There are four classes in the course. They will take place on the last Tuesday of the month from January through April, 2015 (1/27, 2/24, 3/31, 4/28) from 6PM to 9PM
Price: The cost for all four classes is $500, with half due within one week of registration to ensure your place. The other half is due on January 27th, the date for the first class. Please call +1 (877) 342-3404 to arrange payment. Cancellations must be made by January 13th, 2015 for any refund.
Requirements: Space is limited to ten students. Participants must sign a risk waiver to interact with the aircraft, and be at least 16 years old, in good health, able to lift 50lbs, climb a ladder, and work at an operational pace.
Schedule:
January 27th: Airframe 1: Preflighting aircraft – Students will learn how to determine the flight status of three FHC aircraft.
February 24th: Airframe 2: Flight controls and gear/flap/fold systems – Students will learn how the control sticks handle and conduct two gear swings and a wing fold on appropriate FHC aircraft.
March 31: Power plant 1: Radial vs. Inline Engines – Students will learn how to adjust the cam and valve timing of FHC aircraft engines.
April 28th:Power plant 2: Fuel Systems and Propellers – Students will experience operational propeller demonstrations and then observe an uncowled evening run-up of an iconic FHC aircraft.

Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
